The Mount Anville Primary School community recently came together to celebrate the retirement of Ms Angela Munro, marking the end of many years of dedicated service to our school.
A special assembly was held in her honour, led by Ms Horan with every class contributing to a wonderful programme of performances. Junior Infants delighted everyone with An bhFaca Tú Mo Shéamaisín? while Senior Infants shared A Poem for Ms Munro. First Class performed a favourite poem of hers, The Owl and the Pussycat. Everyone enjoyed a special performance of Explorer and the Bear by Mrs McNeice’s Second Class along with A Poem for Ms Munro presented by Mrs Sorohan and Mrs Falkner’s class. Both Third Classes sang The Climb, while both Fourth Classes performed Say Goodbye. Fifth Class completed the celebration with a poem from Ms Nolan's class, I Hope You Dance led by Ms McHugh, and For Good from Wicked, performed by Ms Travers’s class. To conclude the assembly, Ms Munro was presented with a book of treasured memories, and Mr Fernando gifted her a beautiful framed drawing he had done of Mount Anville Primary School.
The next day, following refreshments with her family, friends and colleagues, everyone gathered in Croí na Scoile for a prayer service of thanksgiving led Ms Fagan. Pupils presented meaningful symbols including a candle, book, heart, globe and helping hands, before offering the Prayer of the Faithful and a pupil prayer of thanks. The service concluded with the presentation of flowers, a special card and a commemorative candle, while the school choir provided a fitting musical tribute May the road rise to meet you. Ms Johnston gave a moving speech and Ms Munro thanked all involved.
We thank Ms Munro for her kindness, leadership and unwavering commitment to Mount Anville Primary School. She leaves behind a wonderful legacy, and we wish her every happiness and blessing in her retirement.
