Active Week 2026

Active Week 2026 – A Fantastic Week of Fun and Fitness!

Last week, our school celebrated a wonderful Active Week 2026, packed full of movement, teamwork, dance, sport, fun and lots of sun from Monday through to Thursday. Pupils from every class had the opportunity to try exciting new activities, develop their skills and most importantly, enjoy being active together.

Each morning began with our energetic Wake Up, Wake Up (WUWU) sessions led by special guests including Ms Mc Gowan and Mr Bastien. These lively starts helped everyone get moving and ready for the day ahead.

Throughout the week, classes took part in a huge variety of activities including:

  • Bounce sessions

  • Playball

  • Dance workshops

  • Athletics

  • Basketball

  • Yoga

  • GAA Blitz

  • Dodgeball

There was great excitement across the school as pupils enjoyed dance classes with Ms Barnes, energetic athletics sessions, and basketball competitions on the courts. Our junior classes had fantastic fun during Playball and Bounce activities, while older pupils demonstrated wonderful teamwork during the GAA Blitz and basketball games.

A special highlight each day was the Music in the Yard, which created a fun and lively atmosphere during break and lunch times. Pupils enjoyed dancing, chatting and relaxing together outdoors.

On Tuesday, we were delighted to welcome Tiarnán O’Donnell, who gave an inspiring talk open to all pupils. Throughout the week, classes also learned about Famous Women in Sport, helping to celebrate sporting role models and achievements.

Thursday was a particularly memorable day as the entire school came together for a spectacular Whole School Flashmob in the front yard. After practising together during dance rehearsals, pupils and staff performed brilliantly and our incoming principal Ms Sharkey was there to see it all.

A huge thank you to all staff, coaches, visiting instructors and pupils who helped make Active Week such a success. The enthusiasm, teamwork and positivity shown by everyone made this a truly enjoyable and memorable week for our whole school community.

Well done everyone on a fantastic Active Week 2026!
