Farewell to Mrs. Naughton- Deputy Principal

Farewell to Mrs. Naughton

The school community came together to say farewell to our much-loved Deputy Principal, Mrs. Naughton, on her final school day with us.

The day began with parents gathering to thank her for her years of dedication and support. Marianne Lambert, Chairperson of the Parents’ Council, presented her with a special gift on behalf of all the parents.

From there, the pupils treated Mrs. Naughton to an action-packed farewell programme, with a timetable full of surprises and laughter. To begin, we all met in the hall where she was given a “preview” of her duties for the day.

Her schedule included:

  • Health and safety checks on the field with 1st Class, where she diligently searched for “foxholes.” She was dressed as a fox to add excitement to the occasion!

  • A risk assessment of a classroom full of deliberately playful “hazards.” Dressed in a hard hat and white coat !

  • Visits to classes for wellbeing sessions, Wordle challenges, hockey trials, golf putting competitions, and even a walking-and-talking time trial around the field!

5th Class made a special presentation, giving her a “Behaviour Contract” and star chart, complete with a Bí Cineálta policy – reminding newly retired Deputy Principals to be kind to themselves.

The celebrations concluded with a moving performance from the school choir, who sang I Have a Voice as a tribute to Mrs. Naughton for always encouraging each pupil to use their voice and stand tall.

It was a wonderful day of gratitude, joy, and celebration – a fitting farewell for someone who has given so much to our school.

Tomorrow, she and her family will join the school community, past and present, for a prayer service to mark the end of her 40 years of dedication to teaching. Go n-eirí go geal leat Mrs. Naughton agus míle buíochas ó chroí.
