On Monday 10th of March, we welcomed Ross from the Heritage Council to our school to talk about biodiversity. 3rd and 4th Class went outside to explore the native plants in our school surroundings and garden. They learned about familiar and unfamiliar native plants and their medicinal uses in the past such as the yarrow, cleaver and teasel plants. They also learned interesting facts about how to recognise various plants such as plantain, lime tree and silver birch. Ross also informed them about the danger of the Lords-and-ladies plant. It was a very interesting and informative morning of exploration in our own school surroundings!
