The morning of day three began with ceol sa halla, where the girls performed music and songs for their parents before the school day started. It is a wonderful way to share their talents and celebrate Irish culture together.
Later in the day, students took part in Nuacht agus Aimsir an Lae (Daily News and Weather) in Irish. This helped everyone practise their Gaeilge while keeping up with the day’s news.
To keep everyone active and energised, there was also our daily sos gluaiseachta (movement break) as Gaeilge, bringing lots of fun and movement into the day.
After our small breaktime, we had our Tionól Scoile (school assembly) in the hall. We began by singing Amhrán na bhFiann together, led by the fifth class girls who have been teaching it to us at Friday assemblies. Each class then performed something special for the whole school. We enjoyed a amhrán, dán or damhsa (a song, poem or dance) as gaeilge from every class in the school.
To finish the celebration, we all gathered in the yard for a whole-school Céilí. The sun was out as teachers and pupils alike danced An Dreoilín and our traditional group dance together. It was a brilliant way for the whole school to celebrate Seachtain na Gaeilge.
