Abbie O'Brien's uncle Ian addressed our whole school assembly on Friday 7th November 2025. He was diagnosed with Early Onset Parkinson's Disease (EOPD). Despite this, he climbed 28 peaks of 28 European countries in 28 days. The challenge, which took him to the summits of mountains such as Mont Blanc, Mount Olympus and Ben Nevis, had never been completed previously. He came up with the challenge himself and called it the “Eur-Up-Ian” challenge, raising vital funds for the cause. He is determined to enjoy living as fully as possible for as long as he can and he told the staff and girls that only with with the help of good friends did he manage this incredible feat. He was an inspiration to us all. We wish him all the best going forward and thank him for taking the time to raise awareness of EOPD.
