Active School Week
Here in Mount Anville Primary School, Active Week is one of the highlights of the school year for parents, teachers and most of all, our pupils. A lot of planning and collaboration takes place to ensure our Active Week is the best around! We are really looking forward to this years Active Week which will be taking place from the 26th - 29th May.
Active Week 2024
Active Week 2024 was a huge success. We started each morning with our Wake Up Warm outside led by surprise guests each day, including an olympian, Dublin footballers Kate Sullivan and Jodi Egan and representatives from Kilmacud Crokes. The girls were also delighted to welcome back Ms.McGowan who led us in a workout on Tuesday morning.
Wednesday was a very exciting morning as we welcomed Olympian Breakdancer Leon Dwyer to the school. After the Wake Up Warm Up, he showed off his incredible breakdancing skills. He even picked some girls to show off their moves too! He stayed afterward to take some questions and the 6th Class got to take part in a breakdancing workshop with him. A huge thank you to Leon for taking the time out of his busy training schedule and to Roisin Jones from Olympic Ireland for organising the memorable visit!
Throughout the week, each class participated in lots of extra sport activities, including trampoline classes, pilates, obstacle courses, playball and GAA. 3rd and 4th Class took part in a Basketball blitz led by Ms.Cahalane, and 5th and 6th Class took part in a football blitz organised by Ms.Breen and Ms.Barnes. The 6th Class girls taught dances to the school each day and played music in the yard for the girls to enjoy or dance to while they played. 1st - 2nd Class also took part in a Water Safety Workshop.
We finished the week on a high with a flash mob dance in the yard coordinated by Ms.Barnes. Even the teachers got involved! It was brilliant to see so many parents turn up to watch.
Finally, we had a whole school assembly with prizes given for participation throughout the week. The much coveted Active Week Cup was awarded to Ms.Waldron's 5th Class this year. Well done girls!
