Our Primary Language Curriculum supports children in developing their communication skills through English and Irish, with a strong emphasis on speaking, listening, reading and writing. Children are encouraged to use language confidently and creatively, building vocabulary and developing their ability to communicate for a range of purposes and audiences. Through rich experiences in both languages, pupils develop comprehension, critical thinking and an appreciation of literature, while fostering a positive attitude towards Gaeilge. The curriculum recognises the important role of language in learning, identity, culture and relationships, and provides opportunities for children to use Irish meaningfully in everyday school life. Our aim is to nurture confident, capable and enthusiastic communicators who value and enjoy both languages.
